About

I was an artist in my young life until about age 10. I had gifted teachers, who encouraged art to flow through all the rest of the school day. I was content, stimulated and challenged, never realizing life might be very different in future years. Yet, the day came when art was thoroughly squelched, and the intellectual side of life fostered for me. I remember both a sense of dismay and an enjoyment of this other side. The seed of visual art went dormant for years, as I pursued other important directions. However, it was always there and eventually gathered such force that it reclaimed a prime role in my life.

I am currently doing my senior thesis in painting at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA). My theme is improvisation and my main subject is water. I am fascinated by water, both literally and metaphorically. The thesis will include paintings inspired by jellyfish (which are about 95% water) and also human faces (humans are about 70% water). I have been privileged to study with wonderful teachers at PNCA and OCAC, as well as several international calligraphers.
